The Challenge

We were approached by a loft conversion company that we work with on a regular basis. They were carrying out a loft conversion in central Harrogate. The customer wanted the staircase to continue from the original seamlessly. The existing staircase elements needed to be recreated to give the impression that the new addition had always been part of the house. 

 

The solution

We carried out a site survey and painstakingly obtained measurements and images of the existing staircase details. We then measured the space for the new staircase (floor to floor). Back at the workshop a plan was drawn up and timescales agreed.  

 

The cut string, mitred and bracketed staircase with over hanging treads, with replicated turned spindles and a hand carved swan neck handrail was manufactured to fit the space and match the existing not only in style but also in colour. Our finishing team went to great lengths to mix the rich deep colour and stain the handrail to match.
